Will Northern has an affinity for big, complex projects. He loves the challenge of pulling deals together – regardless of how complicated.

On the brokerage side, he helped assemble real estate in Pretlow Riddick’s vision for Criterion on Race Street. For his work there he was recognized by peers.

Now, Northern is about to take on the biggest deal of his life.

The Fort Worth real estate brokers Will Northern and Michael D. Crain said Monday they have reorganized their brokerage as Northern Crain Realty, splitting from partner Ty Williams. The announcement came months after the three merged their businesses into the firm Williams Northern Crain.

Northern and Crain said they will continue to provide a full menu of real estate services across residential, commercial, and property management. Williams, who previously operated his firm as RJ Williams & Co., said in a brief message he will announce shortly the reorganization of his firm using the RJ Williams name.

“Under this reorganization, we will continue to provide premier service to our clients with innovation and attention,” Northern said in a release introducing Northern Crain. “We have had a great year and will continue to build our team as we foster our culture, based on our core values.”

Michael Crain continues to build his entrepreneurial resume, most recently joining the newly merged Fort Worth real estate firm Williams Northern Crain as a partner with Ty Williams and Will Northern. Crain’s also the District 3 director for the Fort Worth City Councilman Brian Byrd, continuing his interests in public affairs.

And he and his wife, Joanna, are expanding their Fort Worth nonprofit Foodie Philanthropy, which partners with chefs to raise money for a selected charity each year, an idea they originally launched when they lived in Beijing, where Crain was chief of staff at the U.S. Embassy under President George W. Bush. In 2020, Foodie Philanthropy raised $55,000 for The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation for suicide awareness, outreach and research, and the 2021 beneficiary is the Taste Project nonprofit restaurant. Foodie Philanthropy, in its sixth year in Fort Worth, has raised about $150,000 for five charities.

Will Northern and WNC Commercial in Fort Worth received the 2019 William C. Jennings Award for the outstanding commercial real estate transaction of the year. The William C. Jennings award is based on the transaction’s contribution to the community, merit and creativity, and application of commercial principles. The winning transaction involved the planning and execution of a highly complex development in Fort Worth over the course of many years.
